Profiles : SCOT A. SCHWARTZBERGSCOT
A. SCHWARTZBERG received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Texas
in 1984. He subsequently attended South Texas College of Law where he received
his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1987. During his tenure at South Texas College
of Law, he was an active participant in Moot Court, Mock Trial and Client Counseling
Competitions. Following
his admission to the Texas Bar in 1987, Mr. Schwartzberg began his practice of
law with a well established insurance defense firm in Houston, Texas. Mr. Schwartzberg
has continued to concentrate his practice in the area of insurance defense, including
the representation of insurance carriers and insureds in cases involving general
negligence matters, premises liability, insurance bad faith, subrogation and
workers' compensation before the district and appellate courts in Texas as well
as the Texas Workers' Compensation Commission. In
2003, Mr. Schwartzberg joined the firm of Smith & Carr, P.C., becoming a partner
in January 2004. The firm's practice includes the handling of insurance, labor
and employment, personal injury and professional liability matters. Mr.
Schwartzberg is licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and in the United
States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of Texas.
Mr. Schwartzberg is an approved instructor for continuing legal education programs
by both the State Bar of Texas and the Texas Board of Insurance. He has authored
numerous articles in the area of workers' compensation law as well as subrogation,
and has been a frequent lecturer at continuing education programs for lawyers,
insurance professionals and employers. Mr.
Schwartzberg is board certified in workers' compensation law by the Texas Board
of Legal Specialization. Mr.
